Zuckerberg’s Share His New Content Moderation Plan

Recently, the CEO and founder of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, shared his views about the new content moderation policy for his platforms, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, in a video. In the video, Zuckerberg stated the content moderation policy aims to prioritize free speech by revamping the current system with a community-driven model inspired by Elon Musk’s X.

He further mentioned, “It’s time to get back to our roots around free expression on Facebook and Instagram. I started building social media to give people a voice.

Moreover, the announcement included deconstructing their current fact-checking system and replacing it with a content moderation model more reliant on community-driven feedback. He further emphasized the development of the online discourse and the widespread debate on the potential harm of online content and the push from the legacy media & government agencies to implement censoring more and more. Which, according to him, is a politically motivated agenda.

However, in the video, he didn’t deny the absence of content around drugs, terrorism, and child exploitation and shared his assurance to take a strict stance against such type of content. Zuckerberg mentioned, “There is also legitimately bad stuff out there—drugs, terrorism, child exploitation. These are things we take very seriously, and I want to make sure we handle them responsibly. That’s why we built complex systems to moderate content.

In the later segment of the video, Mark talks about collaborating with the president-elect, Donald Trump, to oppose global censorship pressure.
